Vernon E. Jordan, Jr. Scholars to Leaders Fellowship Program

You are where you are today because you stand on somebody's shoulders. And wherever you are heading, you cannot get there by yourself. If you stand on the shoulders of others, you have a reciprocal responsibility to live your life so that others may stand on your shoulders. It's the quid pro quo of life. We exist temporarily through what we take, but we live forever through what we give.  – Vernon E. Jordan, Jr.

The fellowship is named for Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., who served as President of the Economic Club from 2004 to 2008. During his tenure, Vernon Jordan significantly increased the Club’s stature as a critical forum for the exploration of pressing economic and financial issues.

The Economic Club is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Vernon E. Jordan, Jr. Scholars to Leaders Fellowship. This year, five outstanding applicants were awarded $10,000 to support their graduate-level education. Click here to view our Fellowship Winners

Up to three individuals will be granted a $10,000 one-time fellowship award to fund graduate studies across all academic disciplines. The Fellowship is based on demonstrated leadership, engagement in Economic Club activities, academic merit, history of community service and potential for the student’s graduate education to contribute to the community and to the overall goals of the Scholars to Leaders program. The application for the 2024 Fellowship will open in late spring 2024.
