Community Engagement

The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. is committed to supporting the greater community where members live and work.  Learn more about these efforts below:

Scholars to Leaders Programs:  The Economic Club sponsors a variety of education initiatives that provide scholarships, internships, mentoring, alumni engagement, academic enrichment opportunities, and fellowships to students from Washington, D.C.  This programming ensures that scholars are on track with the mission of the Club's education initiatives: "Ready to LEAD: Learn, Explore, Achieve, Deliver." Through 2023, more than 700 DC Public  and Public Charter School students have been awarded nearly $11 million to fund their college experiences.

Community Grants:  In 2020, the Economic Club awarded eight community-serving organizations grants of $25,000 each under its newly established Community Grant Program.  The grants support regional nonprofits, including: American Red Cross, Fair Chance, Greater Washington Urban League, Martha's Table, N Street Village, So Others Might Eat (SOME), United Way of the National Capital Area, and Year Up National Capital Region.

Milestone Celebration Grants:  At the Economic Club's 32nd Year Milestone Celebration event in 2018, grants of $50,000 each were awarded to ten community-serving organizations.  These organizations provide meaningful support for organizations that have a clear focus on the education of underserved youth in the Greater Washington area for success in school, the workforce, and life.
