The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce that David Rubenstein will interview The Honorable J. Kevin Stitt, Governor of Oklahoma and Chair of the National Governors Association (NGA), and The Honorable Wes Moore, Governor of Maryland and Vice Chair of the NGA. The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, February 18. The reception will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at 12:00 p.m., ending promptly at 1:30 p.m.
As Chair and Vice Chair of the National Governors Association, Governors Stitt and Moore will discuss the NGA’s initiative, Reigniting the American Dream, a bipartisan effort to expand economic opportunity, reimagine education, and prepare our energy systems for the future to improve the quality of life in communities across the country. Their conversation will explore how governors are working together to tackle shared challenges and open more doors for Americans to prosper.
Governor Kevin Stitt was sworn in as Oklahoma’s 28th Governor in 2019 after earning a record number of votes in his first bid for public office. He brought a business background into government and has focused on fiscal discipline and modernizing state operations, including appointing the most female cabinet secretaries in Oklahoma’s history and expanding private-sector expertise within his administration.
Governor Wes Moore became the 63rd Governor of Maryland in 2023. He is the state’s first Black Governor in its 246-year history and only the third African American elected governor in United States history. Under his leadership, Maryland has made efforts to fight child poverty, record investments in public education, and taken bold steps to build an economy that works for everyone.
