During her conversation with David Rubenstein, The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, discussed the challenges she has faced during both her first and current terms as Speaker of the House, as well as her caucus's agenda for the 116th Congress. Most notably, Speaker Pelosi highlighted the House's passage of H.R.1, which was voted on earlier that day. "We passed H.R. 1 to remove obstacles of participation to people, citizens, who are qualified to vote, so that they can vote, and many other empowerments for grassroots, and small donors, and... removing the power of dark, special interest money in politics," she said of the Democrats' signature legislation. She also talked about her experience as the first woman Speaker of the House of Representatives, and gave advice to other women running for public office. "We have to be a model to women – have no fear," she said. "Know your own power. Be yourself. Go out there and fight the fight, because you know your why."
