The Chief Executive Officer of Uber Technologies Inc. joined Economic Club President David Rubenstein to discuss his company's innovation in the future of transportation globally. Currently, Uber exists in 63 countries and has nearly 4 million drivers around the world, and continues to grow both nationally and internationally in various cities. Khosrowshahi also highlighted Uber's investment in the development of driverless cars, saying that there will be more limited autonomous vehicles within the next five years. "The reality is that the better things than humans alone and robots alone are robots and humans working together," he noted. "We will get the machines to do the simple stuff, and then we will have the humans do the difficult stuff." Khosrowshahi also discussed his growing food delivery service, Uber Eats, which makes up about 20% of the company's total business. He emphasized the importance of the business as the company continues to enter markets with a smaller digital presence. "We operate at the intersection of the digital and the physical... we're trying to digitize the physical world: you push a button, 30 minutes, food shows up."
