Through her venture capital firm Adeft, Carol Melton invests in new innovative companies in a range of sectors, including space, energy and AI. Carol previously served for many years as a senior executive officer in top level management for two global media and entertainment companies - first at Time Warner Inc. as Executive Vice President for Global Public Policy, and before that, in a similar role for the earlier-combined Viacom and CBS. She has represented such iconic brands as HBO, Warner Bros., Time, CNN, Time Warner Cable, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Paramount, CBS and Showtime. Carol has also been a Legal Advisor to the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and an associate at the law firm of Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells Cadwalader).
In addition to her Vice Chair role at the Economic Club, Carol has served on the boards of The RealReal (NASDAQ: REAL) and JBG Smith (NYSE: JBGS), and is on the advisory board of Finch AI. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and an investor in the Washington Spirit women's soccer team. She has been named repeatedly on Washingtonian's Most Powerful Women in Washington list. She also has previously served on the boards of The Phillips Collection and Halcyon, a non-profit focusing on impact-driven social entrepreneurs.
