David Rubenstein interviewed The Honorable Muriel Bowser, Mayor of the District of Columbia. The lunch will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026.
As the seventh elected mayor of the District, Muriel Bowser is the first African American woman elected to three four-year terms as mayor of a United States city. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., she has represented her hometown in elected office first as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, then as a Member of the D.C. Council, and as Mayor since 2015. Her tenure has encompassed significant investment in affordable housing, the diversification of the District's economy, and transformational development projects, including The Wharf and RFK Stadium. Mayor Bowser navigated some of the most challenging periods in the city's recent history.
Mayor Bowser has served as a Board Member of the Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, chaired the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Transportation Planning Board, and serves on the Advisory Board of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Chatham University and a Master of Public Policy from American University.
