H.E. Marek Magierowski

Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States | April 20, 2022

The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. hosted an interview with David Rubenstein and His Excellency Marek Magierowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States on Wednesday,  April 20, 2022

As Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, the world has been inspired by Poland’s great humanitarian response. Ambassador Magierowski joins the Economic Club for this discussion as more than 2.3 million Ukrainians have taken refuge in Poland since the start of the war. Earlier this month, the Polish parliament passed a historic act on assistance for Ukrainian nationals, giving these individuals and their families full access to the Polish labor market and the right for children to attend Polish schools (including higher education). Additionally, in support of NATO’s security efforts, the Polish government approved a new defense bill to increase military spending to 3% of the nation’s GDP and effectively double the size of its armed forces.

Ambassador Magierowski was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States on November 23, 2021. He previously served as Ambassador to the State of Israel from 2018 to 2021. He began his career in public service in 2015, serving the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland as an expert on public diplomacy and was subsequently appointed Head of the Press Office of the Chancellery of the President. He served as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2017 to 2018.

A graduate from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan with a degree in Hispanic Studies, Ambassador Magierowski previously worked as a reporter, editor and columnist for over 20 years.
