The Honorable Paul D. Ryan

Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives | September 28, 2016
Speaker Paul Ryan discussed the Better Way agenda.

Speaker Ryan is the 54th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and has been a member of Congress since 1999.

Speaker Ryan discussed the Republican policy agenda for “A Better Way,” an extensive legislative framework, crafted by six issue-focused task forces covering poverty, tax reform, healthcare, regulatory reform, national security, and restoration of the constitutional authority of Congress to write laws, which Republicans believe has been undercut by the Obama administration.

He also gave his expectations for the results of the current election cycle, discussed what makes for a successful political campaign, and delved deeply into financial, economic and tax issues confronting the U.S.

Speaker Ryan also ruled out running for President of the United States. He said, "I've had presidential-sized policy ambitions, I've really never had presidential sized personal ambition, it just never really was in my DNA." He qualified the statement by adding, "You never say never to these things."
