The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce that David Rubenstein will interview The Honorable Kevin A. Hassett, PhD, Director, National Economic Council. The lunch will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The reception will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the lunch and program at 12:00 p.m., ending promptly at 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Hassett serves as the 15th Director of the National Economic Council, playing a central role in advancing President Trump’s economic agenda, and coordinating domestic and international economic policy across the federal government. Prior to this appointment, he was the Brent R. Nicklas Distinguished Fellow in Economics at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and Managing Director at the Milken Institute. He also served as the 29th Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers (2017-2019) and returned to the White House in 2020 to serve as Senior Advisor to the President of the United States.
Earlier in his career, he was Director of Research for Domestic Policy at the American Enterprise Institute, taught at Columbia Business School and the NYU School of Law, and was a Senior Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. He also served as a Senior Economic Adviser on campaigns for John McCain, George W. Bush, and Mitt Romney.
He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in economics from Swarthmore College.
