As Delta Air Lines celebrates its 100th anniversary, The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce that Ed Bastian, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Air Lines, will be featured in an interview with Barbara Humpton, Chair of the Economic Club’s Global Initiative and President and CEO of Siemens USA. The lunch will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The reception will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch and the program at 12:00 p.m., ending promptly at 1:30 p.m.

Since becoming CEO in 2016, Ed Bastian has led more than 100,000 Delta professionals working to deliver world-class service across nearly 5,000 flights to almost 300 destinations on six continents. Delta serves over 200 million travelers annually and is dedicated to its mission of connecting people and communities around the world.

This year, Ed was named to Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People and was also featured on the cover of Fortune Magazine for turning Delta into the most profitable airline while sharing billions in profits directly with Delta employees.

During his 25 years at Delta, he has steered the airline through some of the most defining moments in its history, including 9/11, bankruptcy, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Bastian also played a central role in Delta’s 2008 merger with Northwest Airlines, which made it the world's largest airline at the time and significantly expanded its international footprint. He joined the company in 1998 as Vice President of Finance and Controller, later serving as Chief Financial Officer, President, and ultimately CEO. Earlier in his career, Bastian held senior financial roles at Pepsi-Cola International and Frito-Lay International.
