A financial services veteran with extensive experience across the banking and payments industries, Charlie Scharf joined Wells Fargo as CEO in 2019 at a very difficult time in the institution’s 173-year history. He was appointed to lead the bank through a major rebuilding of its reputation and regulatory infrastructure. Under his leadership, the bank achieved significant milestones, including the removal of a $1.95 trillion asset cap. Charlie previously held leadership roles at BNY Mellon, Visa Inc., and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Wells Fargo & Company is a leading financial services company that has approximately $2.1 trillion in assets. Charlie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from New York University. He is a director of Microsoft Corporation and is a member of The Business Council.
