The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce the new ownership of the Baltimore Orioles, David M. Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board, The Carlyle Group, and Cal Ripken, Jr., former Baltimore Orioles player and Baseball Hall of Famer, will be interviewed by Philip D.M. de Picciotto, Founder and President, Octagon. The in-person dinner will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the dinner and program at 7:00 p.m., ending promptly at 9:30 p.m.

Major League Baseball unanimously approved the sale of the Baltimore Orioles to David Rubenstein and his partners on March 27, 2024. Born and raised in Baltimore, Rubenstein graduated from Baltimore City College and is a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan.

Rubenstein's partnership group includes Cal Ripken, Jr., former Baltimore Orioles player and Baseball Hall of Farner; Michael Arougheti, Co-Founder, CEO, President, and Director of Ares Management Corp; Kurt Schmoke, President of the University of Baltimore and former Mayor of Baltimore; Grant Hill, NBA Hall of Farner; Michele Kang, CEO of Cognosante and owner of the Washington Spirit; and Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor of New York City and Co-Founder of Bloomberg L.P.

Rubenstein has stated, "To own the Orioles is a great civic duty. On behalf of my fellow owners, I want the Baltimore community and Orioles fans everywhere to know that we will work our hardest to deliver for you with professionalism, integrity, excellence, and a fierce desire to win games. Our collective goal will be to bring a World Series Trophy back to the City of Baltimore."
